Getting started with the floor plan
From an empty environment to a working floorplan on which reservations get a table by themselves.

In nine steps your room is in i-Reserve and every reservation gets a table automatically.
Allow half an hour for a first setup. You need administrator rights, and the floor plan module has to be active in your licence.
1. Check that the module is on
Check whether the configuration shows Floorplans and Guest preferences under Modules. If you do not see them, the floor plan module is not active in your licence — contact support in that case.
2. Set the three statuses
Open Floorplan settings and link your own booking statuses to reserved, seated and checked out. Do this before you start drawing: without this link, checking in and out will not change anything on the booking itself later on.
3. Create your first floorplan
Go to Configuration > Modules > Floorplans and click New floorplan. The wizard asks for a name, the length and width of the floor in metres, and the number of tables per party size. After that you already have a plan with tables.
4. Match the room in the editor
In the editor, drag the tables to their real positions and give them the names your staff uses. Set Min and Max correctly per table, and fill in the Buffer after with your actual turnaround time. For a more recognisable plan, upload a floor drawing as the background.
5. Create zones
In the editor, click Manage zones and create your sections: window, terrace, lounge. Then assign every table to a zone. The order in which you drag the zones is the order in which they are filled. More about this in Setting up zones.
6. Define table combinations
If you get parties larger than your biggest table, create table combinations. Only combinations you define here are used; without one, such a reservation stays without a table.
7. Link your products to the floorplan
This is the step that switches the whole thing on. Open the floorplan, go to Linked objects and link the objects whose reservations should land on this plan. Without a link, no reservation gets a table at all. See Managing floorplans.
8. Give your guest a choice (optional)
If you want guests to pick Terrace or Inside themselves when booking online, create guest preferences and link the matching zones to them. From two preferences onwards the choice appears in the booking process.
9. Test with a trial reservation
Create a reservation on a linked object and open the floorplan viewer. A table should have been assigned. If not, check your table capacities, the linked objects and any required tags — How does i-Reserve assign tables automatically? explains what the assignment looks at.
