Checking guests in and out

Checking in means: these guests are here and seated. Checking out means: they have left and the table becomes free again. You do it in two places — in the floorplan viewer and in the guest list — and it works the same in both.
Checking a guest in
Find the reservation and click Check in. The table switches to seated and i-Reserve immediately sets the booking to the booking status configured for it. In the guest list the message Guest checked in. appears.
Checking a guest out
Click Check out as soon as the party has left. The table becomes finished and the booking gets the configured check-out status. Remember that any after-buffer still counts: a table with a ten-minute after-buffer is only completely free ten minutes later.
Clicked by mistake?
In the viewer you reverse it with Back to planned, in the guest list with Undo. The reservation returns to planned.
Why this does more than tick a box
You link the three statuses — reserved, seated and checked out — once, in Floorplan settings. If those are wrong, the table does change colour in the room but the booking status does not, and your filters and reports drift away from reality.
Checking in also affects the planning: a guest who is seated and a reservation that is finished are no longer moved by the automatic table assignment. So the check-in moment pins the table down.
When it does not work
With Check-in failed or The action could not be completed there is usually something with the reservation itself — for instance a status that is not allowed to switch to the configured table status. Open the reservation and look at its status.
Rights
In the guest list you need menu_guestlist, in the viewer menu_confmod_floorplan. In both cases your ordinary right to change a booking applies on top of that.
The same three actions are available through AI as well, with the tool_operations_guestlist_set_presence right. That tool right comes on top of the rights above: whoever may not check people in or out here may not do so through AI either.
